Injectables for wrinkle reduction
Lip Augmentation – With introduction of soft silicone implant, Dr. Grigoryants now offers permanent lip augmentation. Silicone implants for lip augmentation are available in the United States. They are very soft and provide a natural feel. These implants are inserted through a small incision in the corner of the mouth under local anesthesia. Different sizes of implants are available. Samples of these implants will be shown to you by Dr. Grigoryants during your consultation to decide what size would work best for you. We have experienced a very high satisfaction rate with these lip implants. Silicone lip implants became our preferred choice for permanent lip augmentation.
Fat transfer is performed by taking fat from the abdomen of thighs and injecting into the lips. Fat absortion is very common which may necessitate a repeat fat transfer. We do not recommend this option for lip augmentation.
Alloderm can also be used for lip augmentation. Alloderm is an acellular collagen sheet that is derived from processes donated human skin. AlloDerm can be used for lip augmentation. AlloDerm is inserted in the lip under local analgesia through small incisions placed inside the corners of the mouth. The lip may feel stiff initially after the procedure but then softens over the next several months. Results with AlloDerm can be permanent. However, graft absorption occurs in most patients. Therefore, we do not recommend this procedure.
Restylane®, Perlane and Juvederm are widely used agent in the United States for lip augmentation or wrinkle reduction. Both are hyaluronic acid based gel. It is derived from non-animal sources and is considered safe agents. Different areas of human body, including the skin, contain hyaluronic acid. Lip augmentation using these agents is temporary is lasts 1-5 months in most patients.
Radiesse consists of calcium hydroxiapatite. It is an excellent filler for nasolabial folds (smile lines), cheek or chin augmentation. Radiesse tends to last longer than Restylane, Juvederm, or Perlane.
This patient underwent upper lip augmentation using a soft silicone lip implant. Small (3mm) incision was placed in the corners of the mouth. The small scar cannot be seen. The lip feels smooth to touch. Silicone lip implants offer a permanent solution for lip augmentation.

We perform wrinkle reduction treatment in our office using injectables (Botox, Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, and Radiesse). These procedures take about 5-10 minutes. Commonly treated areas are forehead lines, lines around the eyes, smile lines, grooves below eyes (with bags), early jowels (skin sagging in lower face). Some patients may desire local analgesia to minimize discomfort.The results are immediate following treatment and last on the average of 4-6 months depending on the area treated. Touch-up procedures will be necessary in the future. Radiesse many last 7- 12 months.
