Upper Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

Upper Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

This procedure is usually performed in patients who lost a significant amount of weight. Following weight loss, the skin of the arms may remain stretched and loose. Besides the undesirable appearance of the loose skin, patients with greatly stretched skin complain an inability find well-fitting clothes.

During brachioplasty, skin excess is removed which improves the shape of the upper arms. In patients with upper arm fat excess, liposuction of the upper arms can be performed at the same time.

Incision for brachioplasty is placed along the inner side of the upper arm. The resulting scar on the inside of the upper arm is hidden when the arm is brought to the body. We place a small drain in each arm to prevent fluid accumulation. The drains will be removed within 7-10 days after the procedure.

You will be given a compression garment that needs to be worn for 3-4 weeks after surgery to ensure adequate healing.
