04 Jan How to tape the nose after rhinoplasty, reviewed by Dr. Grigoryants
Dr. Grigoryants instructs patients to tape the nose after the split comes off. The tape needs to be applied overnight to minimize swelling. Two to three strips of paper tape are applied on the dorsum of the nose with a gentle pressure against the bridge and one one strip is applied around the bottom portion of the tip. Dr. Grigoryants will show patients how to apply the tape and provide with a roll of paper tape. Taping should continue till the roll of tape is finished. Rarely, patients may develop skin irritation from the tape, in which cases taping should stop. Taping does not affect the final shape of the nose and mainly used to control swelling. Alcohol and salty food tend to increase nasal swelling during the healing process.
