How is nasal reshaping (rhinoplasty) done?

Rhinoplasty in some patients can be performed using local analgesia and sedation. General anesthesia is used in other patients. The choice of anesthesia depends on the type of nasal reshaping to be performed, your preference, and your medical condition. For most rhinoplasty patients, we place incisions inside the nose. The sutures are absorbable and do not need to be removed. In some patients a small incision may need to be placed at the base of the nose.

What is recovery like following rhinoplasty?

Intranasal dressings, if used, will be removed on day 2 or 3 after surgery.

You will have a splint on your nose that will be removed on day 5 or 6 after surgery.

Most swelling will resolve within several weeks. However, it may take up to a year for all swelling to resolve completely. Most patients are very pleased with the results. Some patients request a touch-up procedure to further refine the results.
